On each episode, Cameron Lallana sits down with scholars, translators and other experts to dive deep into big books, short stories, film, and everything in between. You’ll get an approachable introduction to the scholarship and big ideas surrounding these canons roughly two Fridays per month.

Meet the boys behind it

Matt Gerasimovich: co-founder, host emeritus

(left) is a PhD candidate in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Northwestern University. In 2022, he successfully defended his master’s thesis “Hegemony on Screen: Gramsci, Early Soviet Intellectuals, and Constructing Culture.” He graduated summa cum laude from The George Washington University with a double major in International Affairs and Russian Language and Literature. He was awarded special honors for his senior thesis “Aesthetic Theory and Theatrical Practice: Sergei Tret’iakov’s Role in Redefining Art in the Early Soviet Union.”

Cameron Lallana: co-founder, host

(right) is a writer with University of the Pacific. He's previously worked at NBC Bay Area and served as an AmeriCorps member in Stockton, CA. Cameron obtained his B.A. in International Relations with a concentration in Eastern European politics from the University of California, Davis. While at Davis, Cameron worked at the campus radio station, co-hosting KDVS News, hosting the news' Saturday show and leading the international news division.
