Although Vera and many other Soviets spent the last day celebrating the beginning of the Soviet offensive, it seems her future might be different than she has been picturing. Major Zakabluka’s squadron has lost Commissar Berman and two pilots in the last few days. As we learn, one of those lieutenants was Viktorov.
